Azores Vacation Package: Eight Nights on Your Own
This Azores vacation package puts two islands and a group of twelve around a traveler on their own, and the room of your own costs nothing extra. That last part is the whole reason the trip is on this list.

What traveling on your own changes here
- Traveling alone
- What it was built for. The operator holds six single rooms on every departure and charges no supplement for them, which is rare enough to be the reason we sell this one
- Two of you
- Fine, and cheaper per head than the single rate everywhere else. You share a twin and the group absorbs you without noticing
- With children
- From twelve, and it is not a children's trip. The days are long, the walking is on volcanic rock, and the group will be adults
- Six or more together
- Six of you would be half the departure. The operator allows it but the trip changes character and we will say so before you book
- How the rooms work
- Singles, twins and doubles, all at the same per head figure. No supplement on any departure
- If one of the party drops out
- Nothing moves. Each traveler holds their own booking and the departure does not depend on your party
- What the party does together
- Meals and transfers are shared with the group. Afternoons are usually free and most people split up
- Who this one is not for
- Anybody who wants to be alone all day. The point of this one is a group that already exists when you land
The last two rows lose this office bookings and they stay on the page anyway. A trip that does not suit the people you are bringing is cheaper to find out about here than at the airport.
What is included
- Eight nights across two islands, four at each, in small hotels
- Breakfast daily, four dinners, and every transfer between and within the islands
- The inter island flight, booked as part of the trip rather than left to you
- A guide for the whole eight days, plus a local guide on two walking days
- All park and crater entries the itinerary names
- A single room at no supplement, on six of the twelve places
What is not included
- Flights to and from the islands, quoted separately once your dates are fixed
- Four dinners and all lunches
- The whale watching morning, which is weather dependent and bought locally
- Waterproofs and boots, which you bring and will use
- Gratuities for the guide and drivers
- Travel insurance, which this office does not arrange
What it costs
from $2,240 per person
- What it covers
- 8 nights, a small group of no more than twelve, two islands.
- What it assumes
- Two people sharing a room, unless the party rows above say otherwise for your case.
- What moves it
- The month, the room grade, how far ahead you book, and above all the size and shape of your party.
- When it becomes a number
- At confirmation, in writing, with the operator named. Until then it is the bottom of a real range and nothing more.
No payment is taken on this website. You pay the operator directly and this office never sees a card.
The months that work, and the ones we would talk you out of
May to September. June and September are the two best weeks: the hydrangeas are out in June and the sea is warmest in September.
Winter departures exist and we do not sell them. The weather closes the crater walks without warning and the trip becomes eight nights of rain in a hotel.
What gets settled when you confirm
Whether you want one of the six single rooms, because they go first and they are the reason to book early. Which island takes the first four nights, which depends on the inter island flight schedule that season. Whether you join the two optional walking days or take the coast instead. And the departure date, since these run fortnightly and the published figure is the lowest of the season.
