What booking together changes here
- Traveling alone
- The vehicle and driver cost the same whether one person or six is in it, so a single traveler carries all of it. This is the trip where booking together saves the most
- Two of you
- The vehicle cost halves and the figure drops sharply against the single rate. Everything else is unchanged
- With children
- From about eight. The drives are long and winding in the hill country, and that is the part that decides it rather than the sites
- Six or more together
- Six is what the figure assumes. Six splits the vehicle six ways, fills a minibus rather than a car, and gets the hill country train carriage booked as a block
- How the rooms work
- Twins, doubles and family rooms at all five bases. Two of the five have rooms for three
- If one of the party drops out
- The vehicle cost redistributes across whoever remains, so the per head figure rises immediately. Hotels refund per room under their own terms
- What the party does together
- The vehicle is the trip, so all of the traveling is together. Evenings at the coast base are free
- Who this one is not for
- Anybody who will not take off their shoes at the religious sites, or who is unwilling to cover shoulders. Both are required and both are enforced
The last two rows lose this office bookings and they stay on the page anyway. A trip that does not suit the people you are bringing is cheaper to find out about here than at the airport.

- Two people sharing a room, unless the party rows above say otherwise for your case.

- The month, the room grade, how far ahead you book, and above all the size and shape of your party.
- When it becomes a number
- At confirmation, in writing, with the operator named. Until then it is the bottom of a real range and nothing more.
No payment is taken on this website. You pay the operator directly and this office never sees a card.
Timing a party of six or more
The island has two monsoons on opposite coasts, so there is no month that is bad everywhere. December to March suits the west and south coast; May to September suits the east.
The route above is built for the December to March window. If your dates fall in the other half of the year we rebuild it around the east coast rather than selling you this one and hoping.
What gets settled when you confirm
How many of you, because the vehicle divides by that number and nothing else moves the figure as much. Whether the rail leg is second class reserved or first, which is a real difference on a four hour climb. Which coast takes the last two nights, which follows from your dates. And the driver, who is booked by name for twelve days and is the person you will actually spend the trip with.
