Utah National Parks Vacation Package: Nine Nights With Children

A Utah national parks vacation package for families: four parks, one car, and walks chosen for what a nine year old will actually finish rather than what an adult would like to.

What traveling with children changes here

Traveling alone
Works and costs more per head, because the rooms hold four and you are paying for the room. The driving alone is long
Two of you
Cheaper per head than the family rate and the same trip. Two people can take the harder trails the family version skips
With children
The shape this was planned for. Every base has rooms for four, the walks are chosen at under two miles, and the two long drives are broken by a stop that children want rather than tolerate
Six or more together
Two families works. Three does not: the park lodges hold at most four rooms on the same night in season and beyond that you are in different towns
How the rooms work
One room for four at each base, or two rooms for five and six. Cots are available at two of the four and cost extra
If one of the party drops out
Room rates here are per room to four people, so one fewer traveler raises the per head figure without lowering the bill
What the party does together
All of it. There is no guide, so the pace is entirely yours, which with children is the point
Who this one is not for
Anybody hoping to hike the famous long routes. Those are on this loop and this version does not do them

The last two rows lose this office bookings and they stay on the page anyway. A trip that does not suit the people you are bringing is cheaper to find out about here than at the airport.

What is included

  • Nine nights across four bases, two of them inside park boundaries
  • Breakfast at three of the four properties
  • A hire car for the full nine days, full size, automatic, standard cover paid
  • The park pass covering all four parks for the whole party in one vehicle
  • A walk card of twelve short routes, each under two miles, with the shade, the drop and the nearest bathroom marked
  • One ranger program booked ahead at the second park

What is not included

  • Flights, quoted separately
  • Six breakfasts, all lunches and all dinners
  • Fuel, which on this loop is a real figure
  • The excess reduction on the car
  • Anything for a fifth traveler, and cots where the property charges for them
  • Travel insurance

What it costs

from $2,460 per person

What it covers
9 nights, self drive, four bases, park lodges and small town motels.
What it assumes
Two people sharing a room, unless the party rows above say otherwise for your case.
What moves it
The month, the room grade, how far ahead you book, and above all the size and shape of your party.
When it becomes a number
At confirmation, in writing, with the operator named. Until then it is the bottom of a real range and nothing more.

No payment is taken on this website. You pay the operator directly and this office never sees a card.

Season, and what it does to a child's day

April, May, late September and October. Those are the months when the walking is comfortable for children.

June to August the ground temperature on exposed rock reaches numbers that make short walks unpleasant and long ones unsafe, and the park lodges are full anyway. We will price summer if you insist and we will tell you this again first.

What gets settled when you confirm

Ages of the children, because two of the twelve walks have a drop that we take off the card below about seven. Car size, which depends on the party and the luggage. Which parks take the two in-park nights, since those rooms are the scarcest thing on the whole loop and go eleven months out. And whether you want the ranger program, which has to be booked separately.
